Privacy Policy
This policy describes how LiveBCS handles information. LiveBCS is a personal project and is not affiliated with Weichert Realtors, Texas A&M University, or the cities of Bryan or College Station except where publicly available map and event data are shown for local reference.
Summary
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, no advertising identifiers for tracking.
- Location (When In Use) stays on your device to show nearby places on Apple Maps; it is not uploaded to our servers.
- Most guide content (neighborhoods, restaurants, amenities, vendors, coming soon, and a bundled events seed) ships inside the app.
- If the app refreshes Visit College Station event listings over the network, that request goes to Visit CS / Algolia with a public search key; we do not receive a copy of your identity from that call.
- Vendor / realtor / lender contacts in the app are provided so you can reach those businesses; tapping phone, email, or web uses your device’s apps.
Information we process
On-device location
With your permission, LiveBCS may use location While Using the App to center the map and estimate distances. Location is processed on device via Apple MapKit. We do not operate a LiveBCS backend that stores your location. You can deny location access; core browsing of lists and many map features still work with a default region.
Content you open
Opening maps, calling a vendor, emailing support, or visiting a website uses Apple or third-party apps and sites under their own terms. We do not control those services.
Optional network event refresh
LiveBCS may request event listings from Visit College Station’s public Algolia index to refresh what’s on now. That request may include technical data typical of HTTPS (IP address, user agent) received by Algolia / Visit CS — not by a LiveBCS account system (there isn’t one). Bundled seed events also ship with the app so offline or failed refresh still shows listings.
Diagnostics
We do not embed third-party analytics or crash SDKs in the current build. Apple may collect limited diagnostics if you share them with app developers through the system.
What we do not collect
We do not create user accounts, sell personal data, run cross-app tracking, or serve in-app ads.
Third parties
- Apple — MapKit, App Store / TestFlight distribution, system services.
- Visit College Station / Algolia — optional public event search index for listings.
- Businesses listed in Vendors — contact details you choose to use.
Place names, boundaries, and events are approximate local guides, not legal surveys or official government notices.
Children
LiveBCS is rated 4+ and does not target children for data collection. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention & deletion
Because we do not run a LiveBCS user database, there is no LiveBCS cloud profile to delete. Uninstalling the app removes on-device app data. To stop optional network event requests, keep the app offline or uninstall.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy. The copy inside the app (About → Privacy Policy) and this page should stay in sync.
Contact
Questions about privacy or the app: [email protected]. You can also open Support in LiveBCS → About, or read the support page.
If you need a physical mailing address for regulatory requests, email support and we will provide the developer’s contact address used for the Apple Developer Program.
